Story

The birds sing and the insects chime. As the leaves rustle in the canopy they cause the light to flicker and dance above you. You see something in the shapes and look up to see if what was dancing in the shadows is still above. It's colourful beak brightly sparkles and you realise it is the Amazonian Adventure Toucan. Known to be a poor flyer it leaps and flutters through the trees with a telescope in one foot and something shiny in the other. It looks around and then it pulls out a map with its beak. Pointing down at the map with a joyful squeaky squawk as if it’s now found it’s path it flicks the telescope out towards the horizon. With a another joyful squawk it flutters off and you catch a glimpse of the shiny diamond in its other foot. You can tell it has finally found it's home, off to rest and recuperate before it shoots off on another amazing adventure.

Inspiration

The inspiration for this was something of adventure. The Toucan can be quite ruthless using their large beak to kill and steal other birds young out of the nests, but I wanted it’s bright beak to show. I love the idea of a toucan in a little pith helmet and a little telescope flapping through the trees looking for adventure. I also love triumph so I wanted the toucan to have already won the prize and finished the adventure. That’s why it has the diamond in its foot, its found the treasure! But it’s still hungry for seeking what is over the horizon
