Story

As the sun sets on the water a shimmer kicks off a rock just on the waters edge. It’s the scales of the Coves Mermaid, with a regal and immense beauty that pulls in your gaze. She has what seems to be sunlight in her hands and she holds it high to catch your eyes. This mystic power flicks beams of light into the water, which hit and gleam off the work worn and semi buffed helmet of our hero The Diver.

The helmet slowly turns and looks up at this source of warm and glowing light. The Diver walks slowly towards it, he can feel the suit lift off the ocean floor as it is pulled towards the mermaid. As the helmet emerges from the water, the heavily armoured hand of the diver slowing unsheathes the blade at its side, at this same moment the mermaid looks into the helmet.

Instantly her face fouls, showing her true form, a fouled rotting sea wench. With a thirst for souls, she leaps for the diver, pulling the laboured suit down into the depths. The once golden light held in her hand darkens and twists and starts to pull for the divers helmet. With one heavy slow moving hand the diver holds the now twisted and decayed sea wrench and pulls her closer and directly onto the unsheathed blade.

Just in time too, as the glass starts to crack on the helmet, the wench lets out a tremendous wail of bubbles and muffled screams and it is slain. The diver pulls its blade out of the gnarled beast and as she goes limp she lets go of her tightly held item. As the two slowly fall back to the bottom of the ocean, the diver slowly extends a hand to catch what the mermaid has released. It’s a pendant, possibly from her one true love. Maybe that’s what she was waiting for on that rock, either way the diver lumberingly turns and starts to make its way back to the surface.....another foe defeated.
