The Golden Green lantern/light
On a cold crisp morning in Ireland I was walking in the brush, it was cruel, twisted and ancient with tufts of green hues. I felt as if something in my DNA knew this place, as if my ancestors had walked this path before. As I wound into the depths of this deep dark thorny path, it was silent and strange. Suddenly the silence was broken by one small bird that flickered through the beams of light that now cut through the brush as it landed on a mossy rock. There were some small berries there. This small sparrow like bird flicked its head around and pecked at the berries but as soon as it did this the clouds moved again, shooting beams of light through the brush and on this bird. It flew off but what remained was this now thick green beam of golden light on the leftover berries which seemed to twist and dance. This is what stuck with me and when I saw this stone at a fair years later, I knew I needed it.
I toyed with a lot of designs but finally settled on something simple as a stone of this caliber needs to be the hero of the piece. I tried to recreate the scene I saw with the stone being set vertically and then putting small 18ct yellow gold granules at the bottom to look like berries. I also set the stone upside down so that it plays with the light in a different way. The stone has three different greens coming through with a hint of teal blue.
2.30ct tourmaline that is set upside down in a 18ct gold frame with small granules of gold at the bottom. It’s on a 46cm long 9ct yellow chain.
