Ring

The Piranha Pete Signet is a solid sterling silver ring with an engraved piranha on the top. The piranha is half eaten but is still fighting with the motto “death by 1000 bites” This is a nod to the fact that piranhas despite being rare and a bit of a myth will mob prey and eat en masse.

On the sides and down the ring are piranhas swimming with bones in a symbol of their finished dinner. The inside of the ring has more piranhas as you can never quite get away from them once your in their patrolled waterways

Packaging

The ring comes in a sustainably sourced wooden box as well as the Serpent Cove treasure chest with all its Cove trinkets. Standard postage within Australia is included, express and international postage available at an additional cost.

Story

The day is starting to cool but its heat is still unbearable. The water looks so delightful as it calmly laps at the steam paddler you call home whilst exploring the Amazon. You eye off the trees, maybe you can jump in and swim to them. In reality you don’t dare enter the water for the feared piranhas call it home. Just then a bird flies low and lands in the water, nothing happens, maybe it is safe to enter this water. The waterfowl starts to groom itself and then darts its beak into the water for food, huh again you think it must be fine in this water. Then suddenly under the bird the water bubbles, it looks around in panic and tries to get flying but the water bubbles more and more. It takes off but its feet are gone and small fish are there instead…PIRANHAS! There are piranhas hanging from the poor bird, the tales of the locals are true, this small fish rules the river waves!

Inspiration

I wanted to do this for a while but wasn’t sure how until I saw a dried out piranha that was half eaten. It’s mouth and eyes still bore a menace and I felt at any point it would start chomping away again. The quote of “death of a thousand cuts” has been something I heard a lot in my life. I thought isn’t that how piranhas eat? In reality it’s very rare that they swarm the way they do in cartoons but it’s not like me to let facts get in the way of a great story or great quote “death by a thousand BITES!"
