I saw this stone and had to have it. It’s a something that has been in my life since a child the sacred heart, spending countless hours in my devout catholic grandmother and aunties house filled with relic like items, golden ornaments and frames of saints. With these days of my past in my head I went to work. I wasn’t sure what I would do but I knew it needed to be a ring, as I moved the stone in the light it flicked this dazing Fanta like oranges out of it so my experience told me to go with yellow gold to enhance that. I carved the wax and got it cast. Once it was in the metal I was excited to replicate a ancient Viking jewellery technique of making garnets gold with colour, that would be to put a con-caved polished inside to the stone setting, I put the stone in and it glows with a saintly pulse. Fighting my urges to overly complicate the design I settled with micro cross styled star setting two bloody red ruby’s to flank the bleeding heart.
